OSU Extension and the Polk Soil & Water Conservation District are collaborating with Garnetts Red Prairie Farm for an Organic Grains + Conservation Field Day. This farm specializes in organic grains and is deeply committed to conservation and land stewardship.
The field day will be divided into two segments, with the first focusing on the farm and the second on conservation. We will begin with a tour of the farm, discussing various grain varieties, field trials, and the challenges encountered. The second part of the event will showcase projects such as pollinator hedgerows, oak woodland restoration, best practices, and available resources for land stewards. This event is tailored for individuals interested in organic farming, contemplating a transition to organic practices, or curious about conservation. Attendees may choose to participate in one or both segments of the program. Additionally, the new OSU Organic Extension Program and the Natural Resource Conservation Service will be highlighted.
