Evergreen Bugloss grows in partly shaded to shaded locations with moist soils. Basal, ovate leaves on long petioles, covered with stiff hairs. Flowers are in terminal and axillary clusters. Five petaled flowers are blue with a white center. Impacts: Rapidly spreads via seed and root fragments displacing beneficial native plants. Roots are difficult to remove completely, leading to re-emergence. Management: Dig out removing as much roots as possible. For larger infestations, chemical methods are more effective. Always follow all label directions. Replace with larkspur, self heal, camas, or lupine. Evergreen Bugloss Mid-Willamette CWMA It's National Invasive Species Awareness week!
