Protecting properties and enhancing the quality of soil and water in Polk County requires participation from our local community. Polk SWCD's Tool Loan Program helps county residents pursue projects by making specialized equipment easily available. Please fill out the request form and allow 2 business days for staff to get back to you.

We loan weed wrenches to Polk County residents to help remove small invasive trees and woody shrubs, including scotch broom, english hawthorn and english holly.

This tool is for those looking for a light-weight tool that allows the user to remain standing while pulling undesirable woody plants. Weed Wrench Light has a jaw capacity to remove plants 1.5" in diameter and smaller, stands at 43", and has a jaw-locking mechanism. It weighs in at mere 10.8 pounds, yet has superior leverage with a 8:1 pulling ratio. Many people prefer Weed Wrench Light because it is lighter than other tools and its handle sits at a comfortable height for continuous pulling.
