Polk SWCD staff recently joined Yamhill Soil and Water Conservation District, Willamette Riverkeeper, Marion Soil & Water Conservation District, and Oregon Department of Agriculture staff for a day of work on the water.
We paddled 8.5 miles from Keizer Rapids Park to Grand Island Greenway, surveying and treating garden yellow loosestrife along the Willamette River. This is an aquatic invasive species that is a threat to our local fish and wildlife habitat. Thank you to Vanessa Youngblood from Willamette River keepers for organizing and leading the day!
