join the polk swcd Conservation Crew for earth day!
Join us for an Earth Day event at Baskett Slough as we volunteer to help clean up litter in partnership with Andante Vineyard. Baskett Slough is part of the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex. Its 2,492 acres provide wetland and woodland sanctuary for migratory and resident wildlife which range from the rare, endangered butterfly, Fender's blue, to the prolific black-tailed deer.
We will meet at 10am in the main parking lot on Coville Rd., where there are bathroom facilities. We will go over some safety protocols. From there, we will split up and pick up litter along the roads and trails from 10am-12pm.
After litter pick up, we'll head over to Andante Vineyard to celebrate our hard work and Earth Day on the beautiful patio! For those 21 and over, Andante is offering a complimentary glass of wine for volunteers. There will also be hearty snacks. We'll also be met at Andante with Graham Evans-Peters, Refuge Manager for Baskett Slough. Graham will talk about the Refuge and current restoration projects there.
Please bring your own water and work gloves. All other supplies will be provided. All ages are welcome. Volunteers will need to sign a liability waiver. Please complete the form below to sign up. You will receive a confirmation email from our Outreach Coordinator.
Andante is a reservation-only tasting room. Please check out their website (andantevineyard.com) if you would like to reserve a full experience (tasting and/or food).
