Description: Fragaria vesca, or woodland strawberry, is a fast-growing ground cover that does well in moist well-drained soils in full or partial sun. As with other strawberries, it grows in basal rosettes spreading vigorously through stolons and produces charming 5-petaled white flowers. Its sharply toothed leaves are a brighter green and more deeply veined than those of Fragaria virginiana. Its fruits, though small, are delicious and intensely flavored. Plant as a groundcover in woodland forests or under taller shrubby perennials.
