Nodding Pink Onion 4" band
Allium cernuum. As the name implies, the pink to rose flower clusters of this onion nod downward like little lanterns. Blooms July - August. Perennial bulb. Is a great nectar source for Fender's blue butterflies. Thrives in dry clay soils. 6-20 inches tall. Full sun, dry to moist soil. Attracts hummingbirds, other birds and mammals, as well as beneficial insects and pollinators. They are generally planted for their ornamental nodding heads and in habitat restoration.
