Vancouveria, or inside-out flower, is a charming groundcover for a woodland garden. A dozen or more white and pink flowers dangle from the flowering stems, their petals turned upward similar to those of shooting star (Dodecatheon sp). The delicate leaves are uniquely shaped like a duck's foot and provide a lacy texture to the understory. This perennial spreads modestly by rhizomes, and thrives in rich soils with dry shade or dappled light.
