Have you seen unhealthy sword ferns?
Many reports of dying western sword ferns have been shared online at iNaturalist. Symptoms include browning foliage and eventual collapse of the fronds. Occasionally all that remains is a stump. The cause of the issue is unclear, but the patterns of dieback indicate a plant pathogen is likely involved. Please share your interest or sign up on the webpage link below. Community scientists can help investigate the issue by collecting soil and root samples. WSU Urban Forest Health Lab Comments are closed.
